Please tell your members of Congress, state lawmakers, and state and county election officials that we need #HandMarkedPaperBallots as a primary voting system in 2020.

/ Please tell them NO to touchscreen voting machines, including the paperless kind and the kind with useless so-called "Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails."  https://medium.com/@jennycohn1/touchscreens-with-voter-verifiable-paper-audit-trails-vvpats-are-almost-as-bad-as-paperless-bec8a63bde4a

/ Tell them NO to barcoded paper summary cards--which vendors have convinced everyone to call "paper ballots"--marked by hackable ballot marking devices (a new type of touchscreen system taking the country by storm). Humans can't read barcodes!

/ #BanBarcodeVoting

/ Tell them NO to barcoded paper summary cards ("paper ballots") from "Hybrid" voting systems, which combine a hackable ballot marking device & a hackable scanner into a single hackable unit. Experts say they can change paper ballots after they are cast!

/ The ES&S ExpressVote XL is the most popular barcode "Hybrid" on the market. Tell state and county election officials NO to the ExpressVote XL. (Battles are raging in both Philadelphia & NY over the XL right now!)

/ The Dominion Voting Image Cast Evolution (ICE) is probably the second most popular "Hybrid" on the market. Tell state and county election officials NO to the Dominion ICE! (A battle is raging over the Dominion ICE in NY right now.) #ICEtheICE

/ Tell your members of Congress, state lawmakers, and state and county election officials to remove the cellular modems that voting machine vendor ES&S installed in Florida, Wisconsin, & Illinois starting in 2015. Tell them to remove modems installed by any other vendors too.

/ Tell your members of Congress, state lawmakers, & state and county election officials to locate and remove the REMOTE ACCESS SOFTWARE that voting machine vendor ES&S installed in 300 jurisdictions that it refuses to identify.

/ Tell your members of Congress, state lawmakers, & state & county election officials, that paper ballots can be counted on scanners only if officials conduct public Risk Limiting Audits for every race, along with a secure and transparent chain of custody for the paper ballots.

/ Tell them that, if scanners are used, all Digital Ballot Images (generated by the scanners) must be preserved and made publicly available. Link:  https://www.electiondefense.org/digital-ballot-images

/ Tell them that if they cannot or will not satisfy the requirements in posts 10 and 11, then they must publicly hand count the paper ballots instead. Here's a video by Emmy Award Winning journalist @LuluFriesdat showing how hand counting can work.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEa8LmNrRFI&feature=youtu.be

/ Election officials have used hackable electronic voting equipment for 20 years without implementing common sense measures to enable the public to know whether electronic outcomes are legitimate.

/ If officials are not responsible enough to implement such measures now--Risk Limiting Audits for every race, a transparent chain of custody, & preservation & publication of Digital Ballot Images--then they should not use electronic equipment to conduct elections at all.

/ Fraud thrives in the dark. We need #TransparentElections in 2020.

/ Our #ProtectOurVotes website includes contact information for members of Congress, as well as many state and county election officials. Please check it out & craft election-security action items. No one is doing this for us. We must do this ourselves.  https://www.protectourvotes.com/

/ Another helpful resource is #SmartElections, which is currently focusing on the situation in NY & Philadelphia w/ the new "Hybrid" barcode voting systems discussed in this thread. I'm a member of the #SmartElections outreach board. cc: @LuluFriesdat  https://smartelections.us/

/ And here’s an easy Call to Action to get you warmed up! We’ve got a lot of work to do :-)

/ Source for post 8 - I wrote this one too.  https://www.nybooks.com/daily/2018/11/05/voting-machines-what-could-possibly-go-wrong/
