New York is poised to certify touchscreen ballot marking devices that put voters’ selections into an unverifiable barcode & can’t be reliably audited. The vendor is ES&S, which has donated $30K to the GOP since 2013. Decision June 6! #BanBarcodeVoting 1/

/ Article about the dangers of barcode voting.  https://whowhatwhy.org/2019/01/11/georgia-poised-to-pick-vulnerable-barcode-voting-technology/

/ The ExpressVote XL, which New York is about to certify, is not only a barcode voting system, but also a “hybrid” voting system. Hybrids can change your paper ballot after you cast it & can’t be reliably audited!  https://www.salon.com/2019/03/28/new-hybrid-voting-system-can-change-paper-ballot-after-its-been-cast_partner/

/ The article in post 3 also discusses ES&S’s $30K donation to the GOP.

/ The head of the New York Board of Elections is Mike Ryan. “NY1 uncovered last year that he had been sitting on a secretive advisory board for [ES&S],” which “paid for him to take trips across the country, attending so-called conferences.”  https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/politics/2019/04/03/nyc-board-of-elections-tests-new-machines-for-early-voting-including-expressvote-xl-from-election-systems-and-software

/ The New York Board If Elections will almost certainly certify the ES&S ExpressVote XL unless voters show up en masse in person to protest.

/ We had more than 100 people send emails to the New York BOE protesting the Dominion Image Cast Evolution (ICE)—another dangerous hybrid voting system—but the Board ignores them & said it had received only a few emails.

/ We cannot afford to let corrupt election officials continue thumbing their noses at the concerns regarding these new barcode voting and hybrid voting systems.

/ Plz join me and #SMARTelections in Albany, NY at 11AM on June 6 to protest certification of the ES&S ExpressVote XL specifically & barcode voting & hybrid voting generally. We will provide transport from NYC.

Pls RSVP here.  https://smartelections.us/

/ If we do not show up en masse and make a huge media splash, New York WILL join Brian Kemp and other corrupt election officials in allowing these dangerous new systems from ES&S.

/ But IF we do show up en masse and stop New York from certifying these dangerous systems, it could start a trend that will help other jurisdictions do the same. Please join us no matter where you live. (I’m flying in from California.)

/ New York’s elections impact not only New York, but also the balance of power in DC. And ES&S’s barcode hybrid systems have already been chosen by counties in PA, Ohio, DE, KS, NJ, & TX. They will likely come to Florida soon. This is a matter of national security. Thank you.

/ PS. Because there is no universal definition of “paper ballot,” vendors have gotten away with calling these things “paper ballot” systems. To avoid them, we must now specify HAND marked paper ballots. Thanks. #HandMarkedPaperBallots

/ PPS. You can alternatively sign up for this election-security event via EventBrite. Thanks! #ElectionSecurity #NationalSecurity  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fight-for-secure-accessible-voting-machines-for-nys-tickets-62013080794

/ Clarification re: Post 5. Mike Ryan is the head of the BOE in New York City. But it is the New York STATE Board of Elections that decides whether to certify the ExpressVote XL for use anywhere in the state. The New York STATE BOE will decide on June 6.
