1/ This is not about tech. It's about rural China, a corner of the country few outsiders get to see, and about my grandmother--how much I loved her, how much I miss her, and how I said goodbye to her.

2/ Our culture often has an antagonistic attitude towards grief: it's something to get over, to overcome, to be resilient against. Right now I am in the thick of it all, feeling so much sadness that I can hardly breathe.

3/ But I find something beautiful in the fact that humans can feel so much--that we can love others so deeply that losing them makes us feel like we are dying ourselves.
