My take: 5,200 soldiers deployed to the Mexican border to win an election. I’d really like to see mission statement & intelligence estimate for domestic troop deployment. “Trump Sending 5,200 Troops to the Border in an Election-Season Response to Migrants”  https://nyti.ms/2CRwsjp?smid=nytcore-ios-share

unclear to me how this order meshes with Posse Comitatus Act. This debate slowed the response to Hurricane Maria. Are these soldiers being deployed for law enforcement operations? Where is the gap in existing federal resources requiring 5000 soldiers?  https://www.google.com/amp/s/wtop.com/national/2018/03/military-mission-in-puerto-rico-after-hurricane-was-better-than-critics-say-but-suffered-flaws/amp/

US Army should not be deployed for law enforcement missions. rarely deployed for humanitarian assistance in US. US military has been deployed continuously on multiple battlefields for 17 plus years. Are we seeing troops deployed through the holidays to stop a bogus caravan story?
