Where do you even begin with a statement like "The PM...has won the backing of the EU27"?

EU27 were obliged to negotiate with whoever was the PM of the UK. 2/

After intransigence, insults & delays from UKGov, along with the rejection of many of the UK's proposals, an agreement was reached that they can live with, does not cross EU27 red lines and is less bad for them than no deal. 3/

EU27 queued up in Brussels yesterday to say how much they regretted all of this, but that, with the red lines UK chose, a better deal was not possible and would not be available. 4/

They are not backing the PM. They are hoping a deal that makes a regrettable decision, negotiated in a regrettable way, is ratified to avoid further harm being done to them by a No Deal Brexit. 5/

And, for the last year, they have gone out of their way to ensure it is is clear that UK can reverse the decision and remain an EU member, with @eucopresident doing this again only weeks ago. 6/

May has not won the backing of the EU27. She's made them hope she doesn't screw things up further at home than she already has, while being painfully aware that the damage may already have been done by her unwillingness to prepare the ground and manage expectations so far 7/

"The PM has won the backing of the EU27"? Could anyone seriously believe this tripe?
