You’re welcome, everyone. “Data company Cambridge Analytica could face damages claims totalling more than £40 billion from Facebook users whose personal information was allegedly misused by the firm, the High Court has heard.”  https://mol.im/a/6472183

(folks the Daily Mail’s treatment of the story is about as sensationalized as possible so take it with the usual eyerolls)

As usual, the press distracted by the amounts of fines instead of broader implications because numbers make headlines click. But the real news here is that if the Cambridge Analytica liquidation is as illegitimate as it seems then they’ve dug themselves much deeper into the sh_t.

An article that focuses on the key points but digestible for a general audience is yet published. In the meantime, you can try to unpack the understatement in this report on the hearing.  https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/12/07/cambridge_analytica_crowe_llp_misled_judge_allegation/
