BREAKING: Attorney Michael Avenatti criminally charged with four counts of extortion and related conspiracy counts.

Press conference at 2:30 pm.

In a 11-page complaint, prosecutors accuse Avenatti of extorting Nike by threatening to release damaging information about the company if they did not agree to multimillion dollar payments to him and a client.

The document:

The complaint includes a screenshot of this tweet.

A reader informs me that the Department of Justice filed separate wire and bank fraud charges in California.

The complaint in California spans 197 pages with attachments and includes a scheme to defraud The Peoples Bank.

This is going to take awhile to upload and make publicly available.

Clarification: The West Coast complaint itself spans 9 pages, but the mountains of exhibits is 197 pages.

You can read them here.
