1) More thoughts on $PINS after a senior former Pinterest executive DM’d me to say that during her time at the company they tracked and optimized around WARC’s (Weekly Active Repin or Clickthroughs). i.e. WAUs are not just a figment of a bankers imagination. Apologies! 😀
2) However, still think it is a mistake for Pinterest not to disclose DAUs. The relatively high ARPU per DAU would highlight the unique value of Pinterest’s dataset/users relative to either $TWTR or $SNAP.
3) And I’m *highly* confident based on recent fundraises by other co's that growth oriented fund managers would look at a low DAU/MAU as a future upside opportunity – i.e. Pinterest at some point might hit on a product innovation/use case that would drive much higher engagement.
