BREAKING (but not a surprise to many of us):
/ I have to say plainly—and in the least arch way possible—that it's impossible to read this New York Times breaking news and not feel that on some level what's happening right now at the Attorney General's office is a coverup of what may well be a shocking investigative report.
/ And by the way, the time to take note of the writers who took a premature victory lap at Rolling Stone, WSJ, Daily Beast, Vox, The Atlantic, Slate, The Washington Post and elsewhere is right now—anyone who came to final conclusions without seeing the report isn't a journalist.
/ There are also 20 pending federal and state investigations involving Trump, his family, his aides and his associates, and many have to do with collusive activity with Russians and other foreign nationals. The idea that some folks were taking a victory lap this early is insane.
/ We know a lot about these pending probes—and nothing we know tells us that Trump has anything to celebrate or has been in any way exonerated. Likewise, anyone who understands legal terminology and read Barr's letter saw that it was saying much less than it seemed to be saying.
