Days before fatally shooting his ex-wife, a Pennsylvania man passed a background check at a gun shop and walked out with an AR-15. He took the gun to a child-custody exchange, and shot his ex-wife in the head and stomach at point-blank range. #papolitics  https://www.philly.com/news/wawa-shooting-assault-rifle-gun-legal-purchase-custody-dispute-main-line-20190404.html

The gunman was under a protection-from-abuse order that lapsed in September. While the order was active, he couldn’t legally own guns. But he passed a background check because he was found guilty of summary harassment, NOT misdemeanor domestic violence.  https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.philly.com/news/wawa-shooting-gun-safety-laws-delaware-county-pennsylvania-20190405.html%3foutputType=amp

In light of this domestic gun violence tragedy, county officials where the shooting took place are calling on Pennsylvania lawmakers to pass a Red Flag law. Fourteen states and DC have passed these laws.  https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Leaders-Push-Red-Flag-Laws-Wake-Deadly-Wawa-Shooting-Pennsylvania-Delaware-county-508174701.html%3famp=y

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the woman’s son. As of noon on April 5, the $25,000 goal has been eclipsed with more than 460 people donating $38,227.  https://www.gofundme.com/letthelightshinethrough
