Sometimes you gotta step back and appreciate the absurdity of the US being surrounded by countries successfully doing things that one of the two major American parties insists are impossible. It's an ongoing testament to the power of identity to shape perception.

They insist universal healthcare can't work, even as every country using it outperforms the US at lower cost. They insist gun control can't work even as countries with tighter gun control boast radically fewer suicides & shootings.

Unions, family leave policies, public transit -- US reactionaries argue it's all impossible or counter-productive, even as dozens of other countries implement them to great success, happiness, and health. I have no real point here. It's just f'ing amazing.
