The @MayorofLA's new sustainability plan aka LA's Green New Deal drops today at 1pm. The plan includes quantifiable goals across 13 areas of focus, specific milestones, partner organizations, and defined metrics for success  http://plan.lamayor.org/sites/default/files/pLAn_2019_final.pdf

The @sunrisemvmt, which had a huge event here in LA Friday, says the plan does too little, too late: "With Mayor Garcetti’s current plan for net-zero emissions by 2050, Los Angeles is on track to be twenty years too late. That is not a Green New Deal."  https://medium.com/@sunrisemovementlosangeles/mayor-garcetti-calling-your-plan-a-green-new-deal-doesnt-make-it-so-ec9553370daa

Emissions milestones aside, I'm already disappointed by the coverage of this plan as "electric cars and cleaner buildings," which ignores the far bigger societal shifts that will be needed to achieve these goals  https://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-garcetti-green-new-deal-los-angeles-20190429-story.html

Changing the way Angelenos move would require significant investment in infrastructure to support walkers, cyclists, users of scooters and other mobility devices, says @Juan_Matute. "Nothing that’s listed here will produce more than a 5 percent reduction."
