Today, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is scheduled to meet with President Trump.

Here's what we can expect from his visit:  https://lat.ms/2Yokoxh

Although Hungary is a European Union member and a NATO ally, Orban has become notorious for his attacks on the media, academia, the judiciary and other democratic institutions since he became prime minister in 2010.  https://lat.ms/2W1VTIW

Orban’s visit is already sparking discontent within Washington and on Capitol Hill.

Senior Republicans and Democrats on the Foreign Relations Committee urged Trump in a letter to express concern to Orban about Hungary’s “downward democratic trajectory.”  https://lat.ms/2Yokoxh

Trump in turn has praised the Hungarian leader even as he has subverted legal checks and balances and enriched his inner circle. Read more about Orban’s visit to Washington today here:  https://lat.ms/2Yokoxh
