I’m thrilled Montgomery, PA switched to #HandmarkedPaperBallots, but the reporting is odd. #HandMarkedPaperBallots shld & usually do cause shorter lines than touchscreens bc touchscreens limit the # of people who can vote at once to the # of touchscreens at the polling place. 1/
So why is the media reporting voters’ concerns that #HandmarkedPaperBallots will cause longer lines?! And why are these voters unaware of the security concerns w/ their old touchscreen system?! 2/
4/ The easily hacked voting machine discussed in this piece is the Sequoia AVC Advantage touchscreen voting machine previously used in Montgomery County. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/08/2016-elections-russia-hack-how-to-hack-an-election-in-seven-minutes-214144 …
Why did @Elaijuh and the other reporter focus primarily on what appear to be unfounded concerns about longer lines & ignore the major security concerns w/ the Sequoia AVC Advantage UNAUDITABLE touchscreens that the new #HandmarkedPaperBallot system replaced?! @PhillyInquirer 5/
