This is also sound advice for every aspiring politician (and for those in office) who are tempted to attack the press for what they believe is unfair or flawed reporting. No wonder Jobs went on to build one of the most successful companies on the planet.
The Jobs Mantra: “Don’t allow your critics, including the press, to live rent free in your head. Embrace them, educate them, focus on building good things, use allies effectively to promote your cause, and any perception issues will sort themselves out.”
It’s also striking how fluent Jobs was at delivering this message to boost employee morale at a crucial time (May 1997) for Apple whose stock was pummeled down to $0.60, partly due to negative press reports - many experts had penned Apple’s obituary.
