"Stop four story buildings" and "too much shadow" are actual slogans by NIMBYs living within the city limits of the most expensive city in America.

This @slate piece frames NIMBYism (along w/ college debt and climate change) as not just a class and race issue but also a generational divide, which I think is a useful lens as well. @henrygrabar on the "gerontocracy:"  https://slate.com/business/2019/05/california-housing-crisis-boomer-gerontocracy.html 

Of course, NIMBYism is also *very much* a race and class issue, which I hope is well understood by now.
