Maternity leave in the world was introduced in Soviet Russia on November 27 1917 (a month after the October Revolution). Working Russian moms receive 140 days of paid maternity leave, which can begin 70 days before the due date.

2. Iran has six months paid maternity leave. Many countries in Africa offer up 14-25 weeks of paid leave. In US while federal government has no paid family leave, companies like Netflix offer a full year of paid maternity leave. Amazon even offers paid leave to spouses.

3. One way to reduce abortions and increase fertility rate in US is to mandate paid maternity leave - with a such a tight labor market, now might be the best time to push for this… should become a top priority for 2020 presidential candidates.
