This is 100% untrue, and shame on elected officials for sharing misinformation spread by the @NRA. A majority of mass shootings take place in private residences, which are not gun free zones, and the victims are predominantly women and children: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/mass-shootings-domestic-violence-women_n_55d3806ce4b07addcb44542a …
This same Kentucky congressman just introduced a bill to repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act and eliminate the federal ban on guns in areas immediately around schools. He has tried - and failed - to pass this legislation twice before. https://www.newsweek.com/gun-free-school-zones-repeal-house-republicans-thomas-massie-1443921?fbclid=IwAR0CokAOnUqiRWykm_DWAb_fhmEEb2fgTKa81JQ6HrXJIKA8geF1NPyLFZ8 …
Consider it a love letter to the @NRA. Thanks to a #TrumpSlump, gun sales are down 10% since his election - about $100M. There are 3.2M teachers in America. An average handgun costs $500. Forcing guns into schools would close that gap quickly.
