Extraordinary: @TheJusticeDept’s deputy AG asked @ManhattanDA Vance to respond to a letter from Paul Manafort’s attorney with double-jeopardy objections. @CourthouseNews

Having seen their predecessors prosecute and convict Paul Manafort of serious crimes, the current DOJ appears to be putting their weight behind defense counsel in local proceedings that do not involve them.

Their full letter here:  https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6158497-6-11-19-Letter-From-DAG-Rosen-to-DA-Vance.html

In a decade covering the courts, I have never seen an exchange between federal and local prosecutors like this.

Here's the response of Vance and his assistant, plus exhibits:  https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6158498-6-14-19-Letter-From-DA-Vance-to-DAG-Rosen.html

Story on the editing queue. Look for it soon @CourthouseNews.
