David Roberts @drvox Seattleite transplanted from Tennessee; now blogging for vox.com/ about energy politics. Climate hawk, deficit dove. Not a doctor. Jun. 20, 2019 1 min read

My new post: New York just passed (and Cuomo will soon sign) a bill with the most ambitious climate targets in the nation:
* carbon-free electricity by 2040
* economy-wide net-zero carbon by 2050
* 40% of benefits to disadvantaged communities.
It’s a BFD.  https://www.vox.com/energy-and-environment/2019/6/20/18691058/new-york-green-new-deal-climate-change-cuomo?utm_campaign=drvox&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

Just to point out the obvious about today's story (since journalists very frequently fail to do so): the way New York passed bold climate & clean energy legislation was by electing overwhelming majorities of Democrats. That's the ONLY way states have succeeded on climate.

VSPs want us to say climate is "bipartisan" now because 4 conservatives in DC think tanks support a carbon tax & a few congressional Rs are releasing weak, mendacious "innovation" plans. But in reality, on the ground, Dems pass climate bills; Republicans don't.
