While riding a Jump bike to moderate an event on transportation equity I got hit by a (very, very slow moving) car. Those scrapes are from the front license plate. LA needs more protected bike lanes. #summerlanes

Thanks everyone. I'm totally fine. The driver stopped and was very apologetic. It happened downtown on 3rd, which is a very dangerous one-way street. There are many more awful things to be worried about tonight, but I very much appreciate the concern.

Thank you also for noticing my shoes which are indeed amazing

Woke up at 3 am with the terrible realization that if I’d been hit by an SUV those license plate marks would have been at least 12 inches higher—and would have knocked me down under the moving vehicle instead of onto the hood.

This week’s push for #CleanerCars will only solve part of the crisis on U.S. roads. Until we get serious about changing the way we design vehicles, our zero-emission SUVs will keep killing our most vulnerable street users.
