NEW: In a shock development, the Trump administration conceded defeat in its push to weaponize the census by adding a damaging citizenship question. On Tuesday, they ordered the printing of millions of census forms to go ahead WITHOUT the question  https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/7/2/1869044/-Shocker-The-Trump-administration-admits-defeat-in-push-to-add-citizenship-question-to-2020-census

This outcome is a massive relief for fair elections & the rule of law. Smoking gun evidence showed Republicans designed the census citizenship question to undermine the representation of Democrats & voters of color in redistricting. Allowing it would've been Bush v. Gore 2.0

The census is the foundation of fair redistricting, & having the most accurate count is essential. Including a citizenship question would have likely deterred millions of Latinos & immigrants from participating even though we have better ways to get citizenship data
