Lots of #MedTwitter are tweeting Intern storiesz
I caught mono at the end of medical school. Like a week before the big national exam. I still took the exam. But I could barely walk.
I needed to drive from Winnipeg, MB to London ON. I couldn’t.
We had maybe 2 weeks between exams and Internship starting.
My program would not give me any sick leave.
So I had to take all 4 weeks of my vacation upfront as I was too ill to work. And then I worked 11 months straight, not quite recovered from mono, as I had no vacation left. This was before duty hour restrictions.
It was a hard year.
