‘All puffery’: CNN allegedly brushed off ethical concerns of booking contributors with NDAs

My latest for @thefix:

In a partial deposition released earlier this month, former CNN contributor Jason Miller says the network was not concerned about paid contributors with NDAs.

"They just feel like they have to [say that on air to] cover their rear ends.”

Last September, CNN told @farhip that it discloses to viewers when paid contributors like Miller have NDAs.

Except @thefix found at least three instances last year where CNN failed to disclose Miller’s NDA on air.

CNN’s paid contributors are required to disclose potential conflicts to the network, meaning Miller did not disclose that he had signed an NDA to CNN, or CNN chose not to disclose it at times to viewers.
