It's amazing how tweeting about the political difficulty of new guns laws invariably brings out the "we're a republic, not a democracy" crowd. Sorry, we're actually both, & that high school misunderstanding is a poor excuse for undemocratic institutions https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2015/05/13/is-the-united-states-of-america-a-republic-or-a-democracy/?utm_term=.e6bda278f80e …
"We can't get rid of the Electoral College, that's mob rule"
I guess every state governor is a mobster
"We can't abolish Senate malapportionment, that's mob rule"
I guess all state senates are mob legislative chambers
"We're a republic, not a democracy"
It's so idiotic 🙄
In the era of Donald Trump, every Democrat running for state legislative office needs to be committed to a massive overhaul of civics education in k-12 schools

Here's Ronald Reagan promoting the spread of democracy. I guess he's just out for the interests of the "mob" https://www.nytimes.com/1982/06/09/world/text-of-reagan-s-address-to-parliament-on-promoting-democracy.html …
Here's George W. Bush promoting the spread of democracy. I guess he's just out for the interests of the "mob" http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/20/bush.speech/ …
