It makes me sad how many people don't like their parents.
If you have children or plan to, PLEASE ensure that they like you. Make them know they are loved, encouraged and valued.
The importance of this is so understated. The consequences (positive or negative) are lifelong...
I'm not an emotional dude, but whenever I hear about people 'cutting off' their mother, father, or siblings, it makes my heart sink.
I understand every situation is different and extreme circumstances could make that necessary, but this cycle needs to be broken.
Many people are confusing the word 'like' with 'being friends/buddies' with.
It's not binary choice between kindness and discipline. It's entirely possible for your children to like you, respect you AND be disciplined.
What I'm saying here is not complicated... BALANCE! 😁
