"It's just one beautiful daydream of US President Donald Trump that US companies will give up China"  http://en.people.cn/n3/2019/0826/c90000-9609022.html

Fascinating how the China-U.S. debundle, which the White House circuit & Pentagon has been pushing towards to gain leverage in this economic war, is beginning to take on a life of its own — a self-fulfilling prophecy. Global corporations stranded in a DMZ.  https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2019-08-24/china-s-pressure-on-foreign-firms-in-hong-kong-is-bad-business

Despite the Facebook-Twitter disinformation takedowns, the social platforms are stuck in this limbo too. I believe this shaped Facebook's targeting of the Falun Gong ad machine; an equal response. So many massive global entities, simply stranded w/o voice.

"Mnuchin said Trump would have the ability under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, if he declared an emergency. White House economic director Larry Kudlow agreed." This is trade talk posturing, but the rhetoric may create the same cascade.  https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-25/trump-aides-say-he-has-power-to-force-u-s-companies-from-china

On China's front, they've launched a commitee like CFIUS to investigate foreign investment in China. The U.S. is taking much bigger swings at Chinese tech, where it hurts. When does this bloom to diminishing returns and just spook bidirectional investment?

Tesla's GF3 may really be in the crosshairs here. Will be pivotal to the company, and is expected to start producing cars as early as next month — just 8 months after groundbreaking. What was an investment catalyst, could become a desolate trade war icon.  https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-gigafactory-3-model-3-production-debugging-phase-video/

Tesla just raised prices, following the new tariffs on American automakers. It will certainly be interesting to see how this unfolds! Unlike Tesla, Apple has Terry Gou and his potential Taiwan bid in their pocket. Everyone else is looking for a Gou too.  https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-26/tesla-to-raise-prices-in-china-as-yuan-slumps-amid-trade-war

Good point of what is at truly at stake: "A reduced Apple presence could have significant implications for the local job market and rub Beijing the wrong way at a time Chinese officials see a slowing economy as a significant risk to stability."  https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-26/apple-s-44-billion-drop-shows-growing-cost-of-china-reliance

Apple could build one of these in Shanghai within a year, right?
