1/ Here’s how this morning's thread came about.
I was struggling to explain this idea:
The division in the GOP is a division between Rule of Law reactionaries and Charismatic Leader reactionaries (definitions from Max Weber)
but I realized . . .
2/ . . . that first I needed to understand the GOP as a reactionary party, so I started by writing this one ⤵️
Today's thread was intended to be an explanation of why never Trump Republicans harp on Trump's fitness. (Thinking of George Conway).
3/ Also trying to get out of the "he's mentally unstable" bubble. I think it's a distraction that helps the reactionaries.
Advocating rule of law (over leadership cult) doesn't automatically mean a person is moral. Slavery & Jim Crow, happened under law.
