Tren Griffin @trengriffin I work for Microsoft. Previously I was a partner at Eagle River, a private equity firm established by Craig McCaw. I am on the board of directors of Kymeta. Sep. 13, 2019 1 min read

1/ MoviePass was the subject of one of my blog posts in December 2017 because it was the most available way to teach people how to analyze a business, including understanding unit economics, premature scaling, wholesale transfer pricing and value chains.  https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2019/9/13/20864873/moviepass-app-shutdown-out-of-business-movies-subscription

2/ My goal is to teach skills. I don't give out stock tips unless it is about making bone broth. My hope was that a deep dive into one example could teach people a few things about the process. As Munger says: "To value a stock you must value the business." https://25iq.com/2017/12/30/moviepass-premature-scaling/

3/ If you want to invest based on statistical factors via index funds that's fine. It bores me, but it's one approach. What is fun for me is deeply understanding a specific business. If you don't enjoy what I do and would rather spend time on a hobby buy index funds and be happy.
