Does the internet make us lag further behind real art and expression or stay on top of it? On my pessimistic days I think the former, optimistic the latter. How much do you seek out music/art/cinema not pushed to you by algos but by other people, serendipity or randomness.
Art is by definition human. Anything that's surfaced to you via an algorithm has insufficient parameters to make subjective evaluations of quality. We know of no computer, technology or algorithm capable of replicating humanity. Anyone suggesting otherwise is deluding themselves.
I worked at the smartest machine learning/AI company on planet Earth for close to a decade. I've also written music for close to two. I simply don't see a scenario the computers win against us in the creative fields, potentially the last bastion of humanity and productivity.
