Prediction: Netflix will stop regularly reporting subscriber figures (or at least collapse US & International), just as Apple stopped reporting iPhone/iPad/Mac unit sales
• None of its core competitors report regularly, nor exactly
• Each Q miss/beat drives share price swings, not relevant to long-term story
• Perverse incentives (if Stranger Things S3 hit 7 days earlier, US Q2 would have been up)
• "International" is already uselessly opaque
You can essentially get there, of course, with revenue - which is why they'd do it. Smooths out ARPU and sub swings, domestic and abroad, too, etc.
Of course, the market would go crazy for a few days and declare Netflix dead.
