Here’s an outlandish script: 1) Facebook sees Warren as an existential threat, 2) Facebook decides to “go to the mat” to prevent her presidency, 3) Facebook knows how effective highly targeted lies are as a political tool. 4) This...

When people talk about Facebook being a “threat to democracy”, this is exactly what they mean. And the weight given to that charge when the CEO openly prepares for war with a leading candidate that has proclaimed intentions to reign in their power? Substantial.

“Personally, I think the idea that fake news on Facebook -- of which it's a small amount of content -- influenced the election in any way is a pretty crazy idea”, said Zuckerberg in 2016. Now he’s literally selling this service in the most dangerous and high-stakes arena.

Facebook is a menace to society in its current configuration and under current leadership. It’s high time to reconfigure it’s place by breaking it up and regulating it. Let’s hope a presidential candidate who wants to do that isn’t stymied by Facebook before she can.
