So far the House Financial Services Committee is doing a remarkable job of making Mark Zuckerberg seem like the mature adult in the room.
Oh good, a question about Facebook censoring conservatives and antivaxxers! I was afraid we might get through an hour of hearing about a *cryptocurrency product* without Congress advancing any antivaxx conspiracies.
I like to think that the congressman who just referred to Zuck as "the richest man in the world" was actually trolling him on Facebook's policy of not fact-checking politicians.
Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, is one of the first at this hearing to advance a compelling (and calm!) critique of the actual product at hand.
At the Facebook Libra hearing, Rep. Andy Barr, R-KY, is commending Zuckerberg on his Georgetown speech and comparing it to passages from John Stuart Mill.
I wrote this week about how conservatives loved Zuck's speech, and why: https://onezero.medium.com/why-conservatives-loved-mark-zuckerbergs-georgetown-speech-4ecfc122d5ee …
