Apropos of nothing, folks in the games industry saying trans rights can mean a hell of a lot, because gaming as a whole can feel hostile to trans people at the best of times. A little gesture can sometimes make your entire world feel less alone, less hostile, and more welcoming.

Being trans, it can hurt so badly when just about every piece of media seems to openly despise your existence, from transphobic tropes in movies and TV, comedy where trans people are always a joke, constant anti-trans hate from media, and the hostility of gaming communities...

When we're faced with that?

Something as simple as Solid Snake saying trans rights can be incredible, it explicitly makes trans people welcome in gaming, and bit by bit it carves out positivity, chips away at the assumptions that gaming is unwelcoming to trans people.
