Self-driving cars are hard, even when you plan for things like pedestrians not in crosswalks.

It's tricky to plan for everything that can happen on the road.

"If it's not at a crosswalk, it's not a pedestrian" is a heck of a thing to tell a self-driving car though

AIs are not smart enough to understand what you're really asking for - and that can often lead to trouble.
