Period diarrhea is the WORST. That was me. It's due to the prostaglandins that are released. I learned that in medical school when I was 20 and I so wish I'd known it when I was 14. Knowing WHY your body is doing something is so helpful even if medically doesn't fix anything.

I had killer cramps and super heavy periods (used to wear those massive overnight maxis from the 80s all the time, the ones the size of a Kleenex box, and change every 2-3 hours which BTW is abnormal), but OMG the diarrhea. Some days 10 or more trips to the bathroom.

Taking an NSAID like ibuprofen before your period starts and taking it around the clock for 2-3 days can reduce period diarrhea. I couldn’t take them though because I have kidney disease 😢

Can we talk about the volume of toilet paper you use when you have period diarrhea?

I swear this thread just gave me bowel cramps and anal spasm.
