Is John McDonnell who says BT part-nationalisation is "the limit of our ambitions" the same McDonnell who said in July that nationalising water companies was "the limit of our ambition when it comes to nationalisation"?

It's here in black & white...

 https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/john-mcdonnell-warns-that-labour-will-hunt-down-offshore-water-giants-dhcfwr3dg

can't help remembering the scene in Mars Attacks where they keep saying "we come in peace" while evaporating everyone with laser guns

The shadow chancellor is asked by @BBCr4today if he was “fibbing” at the time....

He tries to dodge the question by saying his answer back then was about the idea of nationalising the whole of BT.

McDonnell is now casually musing that the state could also nationalise Virgin Media and Sky Broadband and other companies which would be damaged by the Openreach takeover:

“If necessary they can come within the ambit of British Broadband itself.”

also the new tax on multinational companies is NOT just on tech firms, despite the impression given today
