That's the thing about climate change. It will require adaptation of a large magnitude over a short time span.

The human species will do fine. We are incredibly adaptable.

It's civilization I'm worried about. It relies on a fragile network of millions of interdependent pieces.

It will have to move towards a new equilibrium state, and we might not like what's in it.

You could say that modern civilization is a chaotic system, due to its numerous feedback loops and incredible complexity. Relatively small stressors can have large ripple effects.

And climate change is a very large stressor. We simply don't know how the system will react.
