BREAKING NEWS: House Impeachment Vote to Be Bipartisan, with Independent Rep. Justin Amash (a Republican Barred From the Party for Refusing to Condone Trump's Impeachable Offenses) Saying He Will Vote for At Least Three Articles of Impeachment
Amash is a Republican. He was barred from the DC GOP *for supporting impeachment*, meaning he was a Republican when he announced the vote he confirmed today. Republicans' goal with "excommunication" has been to ensure no one can call impeachment bipartisan. Not playing that game.
There's no argument Amash is a Democrat—so there's no doubt his vote crosses outside the Democratic Party. If you're one of those who wants to let the GOP set a self-fulfilling definition of bipartisanship by excommunicating anyone who aims to vote for impeachment, that's on you.
Amash self-identifies as a Republican. He's not allowed to use the designation because he was excommunicated by the GOP for *precisely the vote the party now says can't be considered a Republican vote*. I'm sorry, but media is getting punked if it plays along with that silliness.
