In 2003 there were not so many places to have real-time receipts and the only media was gate-kept by older white men. Fascinating to watch all the things American PoC (primarily Black folks) have taught politicians about racial equity fall apart when applied to another country.

It truly is stunning. Makes me realize how much work has been done domestically and how the Overton window legitimately moved on the left. Reconciling that with pleasing those same media gate keepers is like watching the initial meltdowns politicians had engaging with BLM.

Racial equity is a belief system fam. It gets applied everywhere. It’s not just a set of right or wrong things to say. It is about the humanity of all people. And you now have a constituency that was originally locked out of having the reach of their ideas in public discourse.

But not anymore.

Folks are going to do some steep learning curves in the next few months. Steeper than they have really had since 2014.
