Pet peeve: people who say “Doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.”
First off? It’s dismissive of people with mental illness, like, “ha ha if they were just more LOGICAL like me they wouldn’t have these problems” 🤮
But even if you rephrase it so it’s not ableist - say, “don’t do the same thing twice & expect a different result” - it’s still just plain wrong.
You never do the same thing twice. Ever. Even if it’s one action right after the other, in the interim, you’ve changed. Your knowledge has changed. And the world around you has changed in billions of ways, both large and small.
