Note: This thread is related to #Coronavirus #COVID19

Follow the World Health Organization's instructions to reduce your risk of infection:

1/ Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

2/ When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue - throw issue away immediately and wash hands.

3/ Avoid close contact with anyone that has fever and cough.

I teamed up with @abuttenheim and @spbhanot to administer an online survey via @civiqs of 1,912 Pennsylvania adults April 4th-8th focusing on residents' responses to coronavirus, and am going to tweet some of the topline results in this thread. 1/n

When asked about trade-offs between re-opening the economy and keeping it closed to prevent the spread of the virus, 59% said we should "stay home for as long as necessary" while 27% said we should re-open the economy as soon as possible, even if more people get sick." 2/n

On the economy question, there is a stark divide between Republicans and Democrats. The percentage of Democrats saying we should re-open the economy as soon as possible? Just 4%. Republicans? 49%. Independents come in at 29%.

There is strong support for communities barring people from elsewhere to prevent the virus from spreading. 69% strongly or somewhat support such barriers; the differences by party there are relatively limited. 4/n

The opposition to using data from cell phones to enforce quarantines is quite high. 70% of Republicans and 46% of Democrats are in the "strong opposition" camp here. 5/n

Trust in the national government is low, but also up marginally from March 14-18. 6/n

Trust in Pennsylvania's state government in higher, both than trust in the national government and than trust in state government was a few weeks ago. 7/n

I'm going to take a break so now is a good time to 1) express my deep and sincere thanks to @PennLDI for the COVID rapid response grant that made this survey possible, and 2) say thanks to @Civiqs for the quick turn-around and append the note on the survey methods: 8/n
