“Which death is going to be worse: catching corona or being instantly attacked by a missile?” In Libya’s capital, Tripoli, people face a dire decision: stay inside to stop the spread of coronavirus or flee from the attacks on their homes.

Both sides — the UN-recognized GNA and Haftar's LNA — agreed to a pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But we found that within minutes of the LNA announcing its agreement on Facebook, it shelled the densely populated neighborhood Bab Ben Ghashir, injuring two children.

A day after Libya's first Covid-19 case, the LNA intensely shelled densely populated areas of Tripoli. “I’ve just lost my will to live. I feel like I’m living in a whirlpool that I can never get out of.”

The LNA is not letting up, and even the GNA is taking back territory with some of its most offensive moves of the past year — as we've seen today. This striking photo of a GNA fighter was taken by @AmruSalahuddien at the Ain Zara frontline in late March.

We would barely know what was going on if it wasn't for the local citizens sharing their photos, videos and stories — especially now amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Thank you. Please do reach out to us if you think we should take a look at something.

Since the Covid-19 'humanitarian pause', at least 4 different hospital complexes in GNA-controlled have been hit by suspected LNA shelling: Safwa Hospital (Mar 25), University Hospital (Apr 3), Khadra Hospital (Apr 6, 7, 9) and Royal Hospital (Ap 18).
