Follow the World Health Organization's instructions to reduce your risk of infection:

1/ Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

2/ When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue - throw issue away immediately and wash hands.

3/ Avoid close contact with anyone that has fever and cough.

Short thread

On @npratc National Conversations taking listener questions and elsewhere, I keep getting asked:

If 70% of us are going to get COVID anyway, why not just get it now vs. Oct? Why suffer through pain of lock-down?

One reason you've know:

Flatten the curve -- give the healthcare system the chance to care for you when you get sick

If we all get sick at one time, we'll overwhelm the system

Fine. Whatever, You knew that

BUT, there's another VERY good reason to delay getting COVID

2/4

Experience/therapies:

Right now, we are learning how to care for sick COVID patients.

We don't have much experience.

And we have no known therapies that work.

By October, I am VERY hopeful we will have effective therapies and a lot more experience treating the disease

3/4

Bottom line

Mortality rates will likely be lower in Oct than they are now. Am I sure? No. But hopeful

Scientists working hard. Breakthroughs will come

Don't you want to get COVID when we have effective therapies?

That's why if you have to get it, better in Oct than now
