I served in the Clinton Administration with what I thought was a great economic team. In retrospect, we contributed greatly to America's inequality and the pro-Wall St., pro-corporate policy prescriptions did huge damage. Many of these folks were on Obama's team, too.
We can and must do better. Nothing will illustrate that more than the economic catastrophe we will live through in the next 18 months. It's time to embrace economists whose metrics are not stock markets and GDP, but the quality of life of average Americans.
, shunned by Team Rubin, had it right. @RBReich, often ridiculed by that team, had it right. @EWarren and @AOC have it right. We need a new economic approach that is an antidote to the inequality and gutting of social safety nets of the past four decades.
