Follow the World Health Organization's instructions to reduce your risk of infection:
1/ Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
2/ When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue - throw issue away immediately and wash hands.
3/ Avoid close contact with anyone that has fever and cough.
1/Coronavirus Tweets from the Experts, 5/2/2020
2/Why are clinical trials for coronavirus vaccines and treatments so important? Why can't we just give stuff to people if it seems like it might work?
Well, here's why.
3/Is America just going to give up on suppression measures and let the virus rip through the population?
Let's hope not.
4/100,000 Americans may already have died of coronavirus.
5/A thread defending the study that found that Remdesivir had a positive effect.
6/More on the vaccine timeline.
7/Here's a tale for the history books.
8/If only we had a #TestAndTrace system like Korea's...
9/And yet more about the race to develop a vaccine.
10/Apparently, scientists and intelligence agencies disagree on where this virus came from.
11/Is Sweden's coronavirus death rate declining?
12/#TestAndTrace works. Regions that embrace it do better than regions that ignore it.
This is a lesson.
13/More debate about Remdesivir.
14/On the uncertainties of forecast modeling.
15/"Herd immunity" is not a good plan. But where does that leave us? The experts discuss.
16/About 1/5 of NYC has been infected with coronavirus.
To reach herd immunity would require 3x more death than NYC has endured already.
17/A thread about contact tracing in Taiwan. Very important for designing our own #TestAndTrace systems.
18/Why are meatpacking plants getting so much coronavirus?
19/Next time someone tells you that other countries are struggling with coronavirus just as much as we are, read them this list of countries that have done much, much better.
20/Must be cool to have a scientist as the leader of your country instead of a real-estate huckster.
21/China did cover up evidence of coronavirus.
22/Great and important thread about #TestAndTrace.
23/While lots of Americans thought the virus was coming from China, it was coming much much more from Europe.
24/New Zealand has effectively eliminated coronavirus.
25/Outside of the NY/NJ/CT area, the U.S. coronavirus outbreak continues to increase.
26/Sweden, the control group.
27/Is the coronavirus mutating into a more contagious form over time? Experts disagree.
28/Antiviral drugs are usually not very effective, with a couple exceptions.
29/It would be remarkable if a hundred thousand dead Americans, a wrecked economy, and massive, massive, continuous, blatant failures on the testing, PPE, and lockdown fronts didn't result in decreased support for Trump.
30/A good visual explainer of what we need to do to beat this virus (before a vaccine arrives).
31/Mandatory mask laws: good, or very good?
32/Very cool playable coronavirus simulations.
Send these to your friends!
33/Once again, "herd immunity" is crazy talk.
35/We need a LOT more federal money for testing, and we need it NOW.
36/And that's all for today, folks! Come back tomorrow for more!
