If you are not actively cultivating a culture that doesn’t tolerate racism, you will have racists. If you start pushing for an anti-racist culture late in your development, those racists will try to derail it.
And many folks won’t say this but they’ll think “why are you saying those people are racist, they just have different opinions?”
If your company opens up a grieving space for Black people to see how they can be supported and heard and your reaction is to question why they need to be supported and if somehow the entire Black community isn’t actually deserving of its pain, congrats, you are a racist. 🤷🏻♀️
And these folks always, always, ALWAYS derail racial equity initiatives and folks let them.
