On Friday, Florida's Department of Health reported a new single day record for coronavirus cases since the state began reopening. Florida coronavirus rates twice as high in black, Hispanic areas, internal state data shows.  https://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/20200605/florida-coronavirus-rates-twice-as-high-in-black-hispanic-areas-internal-state-data-shows

On the left, Italy’s coronavirus curve. On the right, Florida’s = 3 times as many cases as Italy despite having 35 million fewer people. Florida achieved little by its lockdowns and will now become a no-go zone for many international tourists who will instead flock to Italy.

Majority of frontline workers in Florida’s economy are black and Latino and getting disproportionately infected by Covid-19. Many such workers lack healthcare and are paid hourly ($10/hour). Lawmakers could ensure such workers are paid at least $30/hour for the risk but won’t.

Coronavirus cases are spiking again in the South, Southwest and West, with daily new reported cases at 28,000 (!), including Michigan’s 5,000 new probable cases. No developed country has this scale of Covid-19 spread (or such protests) in the sixth month of the pandemic.

Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations continue surging in Texas (now reopening in phases), which reported 1,796 COVID-19 hospitalizations Thursday, a one-day increase of 309 and the third-highest Texas total of the outbreak.
