There was never a “quarantine”—at least not of the kind China had (full lockdown) which helped them vanquish the virus. US had, at best, the “Swedish-style quarantine” where tens of millions were out and about anyway, which is why we have 20,000+ new coronavirus cases a day.

Even before these protests, people were regularly flouting mask wearing and social distancing—many Americans simply lacked the patience, discipline, commonsense, in some cases, the opportunity, to adhere to coronavirus guidelines. So now we will have a nice big rolling wave.

Well before these protests started, counties like Milwaukee County and Cook County were showing double digit percentage of positive coronavirus tests. Even with mask wearing, US will continue to produce 10,000+ new cases a day for the foreseeable future.  https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/2020/06/06/wisconsin-coronavirus-cases-milwaukee-county-positive-tests-16/3165309001/

Some right wing commentators will try to pin any spike in coronavirus cases solely on the protests but remember, two days before George Floyd was murdered by the cops, people were already taking a holiday from mask wearing and social distancing in many cities across the US.
