UK 🇬🇧 COVID-19 death rate is much higher than US 🇺🇸 — UK could see COVID-19 deaths soar with reopening of pubs, bars and restaurants. This is the government’s way of appeasing restless public and proving this was a bad idea. Bars will likely go into a second lockdown, like Texas.

US, UK and other nations that bought time with lockdowns of bars, restaurants, retail could’ve figured out a way to retrain workers in these industries to tackle COVID-19 related essential work — similar to efforts during WW2. But too many governments are counting on a vaccine…

Ratio of workers involved in fighting Covid-19 spread + developing coronavirus therapies/vaccines to those in non-COVID related work is 1:100,000 — unless we balance this out structurally, we will be in a similar mess during the second wave/when the next pandemic hits.

In states like Illinois, daily/new coronavirus cases have shot up 80% since reopening bars and restaurants. Which means Chicago area bars and restaurants will go into a second lockdown soon, and many businesses in the state may close permanently.

1 out of 3 coronavirus cases in Illinois are people in their 20s and 30s and people coming from states where cases are surging would be ordered to quarantine for two weeks, starting Monday. But with no good measures to enforce such quarantines, imported cases will add to surge.
